What Education Documents Does a Ukrainian Online School Issue?
Before moving to distance learning, parents should check two separate things: whether the provider holds the appropriate licence, and which documents a pupil receives after completing each stage of education. “Everything is official” is not enough. Ask to see the licence documents and request a written answer for the child’s situation.
Start with the licence
The right to issue education documents belongs to a licensed education provider. Whether learning is in person, part-time or online does not by itself decide the validity of a document. The status of the provider, completion of the education programme and the proper recording of results are what matter.
A licence is essential, but it is not the only check. Ask which legal entity signs the agreement, which institution enrols the child and where the school record is held. What a pupil receives
A pupil at a licensed Ukrainian school receives:
- an annual progress record for each completed grade;
- a document of basic secondary education after Grade 9;
- a document of complete general secondary education after Grade 11.
Modern Ukrainian documents use current official terminology. Avoid relying on old informal words such as “attestat” when discussing the exact document; ask the school to provide the currently approved name.
Can these documents be used for university admission?
For admission to Ukrainian higher education, applicants follow the current national entry rules, including the National Multi-Subject Test where applicable. The receiving institution examines the education document and entrance results, not whether a pupil sat at a desk in a physical classroom.
For admission abroad, a Ukrainian education document may require recognition, translation or apostille procedures. Those rules depend on the country and the receiving institution, and they apply to documents from Ukrainian schools generally. Check directly with the university, school or authority that will assess the document.

An education document is earned through completion of the programme and assessment. A platform, a course or an unlicensed “alternative school” does not automatically create official school results. Ask the admissions office for written guidance before submitting an application.
