External Studies Light is an assessment-only format. It is not a regular programme with lesson-by-lesson learning content, live teaching or curator support.

What is included

• One comprehensive assessed assignment in each subject.
• Access to the school site during the assessment period, described as April–May.
• Access to assessments and tests at any time during that period.
• No access to lesson-by-lesson learning content.
• No curator support.
• Education documents issued after completion of the relevant assessment process.

Important limitations

External Studies Light is not an accelerated shortcut and does not remove the requirement to demonstrate learning outcomes. It is appropriate only where the legal basis, prior learning, document process and assessment plan are clear for the individual pupil. Confirm the format’s current scope, calendar and fee with the school before enrolling.
